If you are using Visual Studio with Windows xp,you might have already used Create Virtual Directory option from solution’s property page without any warnings. But once you switch to Windows7,there comes a warning that says Unable to create the virtual directory. To access local IIS Websites, you must run Visual Studio in the context of an administrator account.
First time when I received this message, was really not sure what went wrong, but was defenitly sure that there will be a way around to do so.I figured out this way.Go to start,All programs,Microsoft Visual Studio, right click & select Run as administrator.Once it is opened, open your respective solution from there. Then try creating virtual directory,it will create virtual directory without any warnings 🙂 Hope this helps!
